These statistics show just how dangerous life is for a police officer who is on active duty. There are people with guns who kill officers. There are people with knives who kill police officers. Recently there have attacks on police officers. There was one in New Orleans, where police officers were shot and killed by a man who was walking along the highway. There was a major attack in Houston, where numerous police officers were killed during a celebration. There have been others as well.
